Ed is a minister and the Director of “Equipping Hearts for the Harvest,” which is a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry that he and his wife Maritza founded in 2003. The mission of Equipping Hearts is to facilitate training, mentoring, networking, and personal wholeness for leaders, churches, ministries, and workers to empower them to serve the church, small groups, the addicted community, and hurting people locally and globally. Ed and Dr. E. James Wilder are the co-creators of the Connexus Program. He is the author of the “Restarting Workbook and Facilitator’s Guide” and is featured in the Restarting video. He and Dr. Wilder are the co-authors of “Belonging.” Ed is also a co-author of the book, “Joy Starts Here: The Transformation Zone.” He is currently developing a series of small group training materials called “A Place for Grace.”

Ed is honored to serve as an Elder and the Life Group Coordinator at his church in North Carolina. There, he oversees small group ministry, and has developed new grace-based training materials and classes to equip leaders for small group ministry. Ed and Maritza also lead regular training and mentoring groups for leaders in their local community. His training includes strategies to help small group leaders respond to narcissism.

He works extensively with other ministries as an instructor at a variety of national conferences and international training schools, and specializes in teaching students new, effective, and innovative approaches to small group ministry, addiction, and trauma recovery. Ed is a member of the Secretariat for the International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition, which serves workers and ministries in over 90 nations. Ed and Maritza also frequently teach at Youth With A Mission Counseling Schools. He has taught classes for people from well over 70 nations.
